Ginger

Ginger

It is rainy season and our tongue demands fried food i.e. Bhajiya in Gujarat. But monsoon is a season of deficient fire in stomach. The digestion system is weak in this season. The religious gurus taught us to do fasting. Ek Tana in Chaturmas is very common amongst the Jains and Vaishnavs. But we are fond of eating and taking medicine. Some of us search for herbal medicine. There is an answer. The answer is Ginger (ardrak).

Ginger is anti-inflammatory, great for colds and arthritis. It contains more than 12 antioxidants. Helps reduce serum cholesterol levels, reduces tendency towards blood clots. It aids in circulation, stimulates vasomotor and respiratory center of the central nervous system. It kills roundworms as well as other parasites. It helps to relieve the body of congestion.

It is commonly used to treat various types of stomach problems. It can be used for treating upper respiratory tract infections, cough, and bronchitis. Fresh ginger is used for treating acute bacterial dysentery, baldness, malaria, poisonous snake bites, rheumatism, migraine headache, and toothaches.

Dried ginger is used for chest pain, low back pain, and stomach pain. Its characteristics surprise us as fresh ginger increases the motion, but dry ginger stops the motion. It is better to prefer dried ginger powder to lopramide to control intestinal peristalsis.

Ginger may be powerful weapon in the treatment of ovarian cancer. It may slow the growth of colorectal cancer cells. Many of us like ardrak ki chay. Please continue and if want to experiment further, start taking ardrak(100gms) juice with or without honey in the morning.

One of the ministers, an ayurved lover, preferred ginger to heart surgery, took 140 kg of ardrak juice with cow milk (no food, no water) for 10 months some 20 years ago. He is fine today at 77.

Caution:
Ginger might slow blood clotting. It might lower blood sugar. It might reduce blood pressure. Those who take medicine to treat all these must re-adjust their dosage.

Shubham bhavatu kalyanam.
