Bhagyesh Jha Retiring Today

Bhagyesh Jha Retiring Today

Bhagyeash Vasudev Jha IAS (SCS) 1991 retires today from a long and active service of 35 years of the Government of Gujarat. He started his career joining GAS 1981.

As per his name he may not be a Lord of Fortune (Bhagyesh) of the World (Jha) but definitely he elevated the value of the posts, wherever he has worked. Recently, he has managed 5 events at 5 places simultaneously with handling 752 journalists during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015.

His tenures as Collector of Kheda and Vadodara and performance as Commissioner of Information and Secretary of Youth Services and Culture Activities Department have been noteworthy. He has not only proved his abilities as an administrator and event manager but also keeping the Bosses happy with his performance.

The quality of presentation of 'Gujarat' magazine improvised and circulation multiplied during his tenure as Commissioner of Information. Gujarat came in lime light in Sports through recording event of Chess Competition and Khel Maha Kumbh, opening the doors of events and awards for the Youths of Gujarat. Gujarat flourished in cultural activities during his tenure as the Secretary of Youth Services and Cultural Activities Department.

He has remembered the legacy of old generation of sound bureaucrats especially referring two names Mr. HK Khan and Mr. CK Koshi in the CoS meeting on 26/2/14. He explained how he became instrument in changing the World Bank terms of reference for Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam Project during his study stay in US and pleased with that work, how Mr. HK Khan created a new post of DS in CSO and posted him as his Deputy Secretary.

He referred Mr. CK Koshi as his Administrative Guru. He narrated a story of his visit to US as a member of GoG delegation being an MD of Indext B. His name was not cleared in the first list. But Mr. Koshi went personally to meet the CM and requested to delete his name from the list but to approve Mr. Bhagyesh Jha's name, as he was the man behind the entire work of that delegation. The then CM Mr. Shankarsinh Vaghela was surprised with such a support to him from the seniors.

He is a good author of Gujarati Gadhya, Padhya and now Humour. His 3 books (Samay Stotra, Aamukh, and Sankochayelu Maun) have been released recently (30/1/15) in a public function at Tagore Hall in Ahmedabad, Chaired by Mrs. Anandiben Patel the CM of Gujarat, and graced by Saint Morari Bapu.

A lucid speaker, Bhagyesh commands 4 languages; Gujarati, English, Hindi, and Sanskrit. He believes that with the touch of Santram Bapu's finger (of Nadiad) on his brahmrabdhra centre (when he was Collector Kheda) he has gained the ability to deliver speech in Sanskrit.

I am known to him since 1983. He was our Course Director in SPIPA, New Mental Hospital (Nava Ganda area), Ahmedabad. We had his good association in SPIPA and fun during Gujarat Darshan Tour to Saputara.

Our best wishes to him for the post retirement life in Social and Literary Services to the State of Gujarat. Hoping that he will continue with his association with Government of Gujarat!!!

Good Luck Bhagyesh.

With Love and Regards,

Punamchand
