A very good rainfall year 2013

A very good rainfall year 2013 with 1175mm (147%) ends in Gujarat. South Gujarat may have little showers over isolated places but the season ends now. It is one of the 4th highest rainfall year in last 30 years: (1193mm in 1983, 1245mm in 1994, 1225mm in 2007). 32 of 33 districts and 210 of 225 talukas crossed 100% of their average rainfall. 20 Districts and 125 Talukas have received rains above 1000mm.

Umarpada of Surat become Cherapunji of Gujarat this year with 3397 mm rainfall. Valsad received the highest 2870 mm rainfall.  Kutch received the lowest (628mm) but it is 166% of its average.

Zonewise: South Gujarat (1990 mm, 146%), East Central Gujarat (1115 mm, 140%), North Gujarat (978 mm, 147%), Saurastra (990 mm, 153%) and Kutch (628 mm, 166%). It has rained in all 5 months: June 199mm, July 403mm, August 194mm, September 319mm, October 60mm.

Barring heavy rainfall and flooding during 22-28 September, the season has given balance rain with 83 rainy days. It is one of the longest season starting from 2nd June 2013. The team work of the administration was one of the best examples of disaster management and mitigating risks with effective communication and utilising local resources optimally.

Out of 203 water storage dams, 140 dams are full. Now the State has water storage of 19725 mcm (91%) against the storage capacity of 21188 mcm. The check dams and village tanks-ponds add another approx 5000 mcm water storage. Some of you may be knowing the Water Distribution Wonder of Gujarat, the Narmada Drinking Water Supply Grid of Gujarat (3 times the circumference of the Earth) provide drinking water to 7800 and 131 cities-towns of Surastra and Kutch. नमािम देवि नमॅदे। No more water trains require for Rajkot.

It is harvesting season and Thanks giving to the God now. Sowing in 89 lac hectors of land (+3 lac above average) will fill up pockets of farmers with encasing bumper crops of groundnut (16.60 LH) cotton (26.91 LH), paddy(8 LH), pulses (5LH), other cereals (7 LH), other oil seeds (8 LH), Guvar (5 LH), etc. The good monsoon has created a base for another bumper Ravi Season in 40 lac hectors of land. Gujarat will have bumper cumin seed (jira), mustard seed (rai), gram and wheat cultivation.

Many many thank goes to Cyclone Philine (Sapphire) for taking away moisture over the State of Gujarat and saving crops of millions of rupee. Gujarat agriculture growth rate and share of agriculture in GDP will at its boom.

Gujarat is now on a very strong foothold, nourished by many, the members of "Team Gujarat", dreaming for better quality of life of the people with better position in HDI.

पैसा तो है, बस खाना ज़रूरी है।

Monsoon 2012 Forecaste

Pre monsoon, it is a time for meteorologists and Jyotishis to predict rainfall during the coming monsoon season. The IMD in its first stage forecast (April) predicted 47% probability of normal rainfall and 24 % probability of below normal rainfall year. It will issue second stage forecast in June 2012. The Japanese and European meteorologists predicted deficient rainfall in India. The Anand Agriculture University has predicted 130% rainfall in Gujarat based on data analysis of 100 years.

The weak La-Nina condition started weakening and it is in transition towards Enso. It is presumed that Enso neutral condition will prevail during the monsoon 2012. This is an indicator of normal or little below normal year. But all eyes are focused on Peru to see the movement of Al-Niño. It brings draught and deficient year for the country. There is no set pattern of Al-Niño. It may occur at 9-7-5-3 year’s intervals. The hot water flow in the Pacific

Ocean affects the sea surface temperature of Indian Ocean and disturbs the system of making clouds and air current resulting in less precipitation.

Global warming has increased the sea surface temperature that has increased the precipitation and cyclonic events during last decade in many parts of the world.

Let us analyse, the planetary conditions during the monsoon season 2012 (1/6 to 30/09).

Retrogative Saturn in Virgo will become margi on 27/6/12 and moves to Libra in exaltation on 5/8/12. Rahu is in watery sign Scorpio during the season. Ketu and Jupiter are in Taurus during the season. Mars is in Leo till 21/6/2012 moves to Virgo (22/6 to 14/8), Libra (15/8 to 28/9) and Scorpio (29/9 to 9/11). Venus is retrogative in Taurus till 28/6 become margi and will move to sign Gemini (1/8 to 1/9) and watery sign Cancer (2/9/ to 28/9).

Watery planets Venus and Moon and semi-watery Jupiter are very important for good rains.

Jupiter in Pisces got unprecedented flood in Pakistan in 2010.

During June, Saturn the planet of wind is in earth sign Virgo (retrogative till 25/6) and Mars the planet of hotness is in fire sign Leo (upto 21/6) are aspecting watery signs Scorpio and Pisces; Rahu the planet for drying effect is placed in watery sign Scorpio; Jupiter, Venus, Ketu and Sun (14/6-15/7) are in earth sign Taurus; are indicators of windy weather and less rainfall till 21/6. A good start is expected in the last week of June due to positive aspects of Jupiter and Venus (retrogative till 28/6) over watery sign Scorpio. Sun enters in Ardra nakshatra on 21/6/12 is expected to give a start of season in Gujarat.

During July Saturn enters into Libra the sign of winds will aspect watery sign Cancer; Jupiter and Venus remains in Taurus aspecting watery sign Scorpio; Rahu’s presence in Scorpio; Mars in earth sign Virgo aspecting watery sign Pisces; Sun moving to Cancer from 15/7 are indicators of less than average rainfall.

During August Saturn in Libra, Jupiter in Taurus with Ketu, Venus in Gemini, Rahu in Scorpio, Mars in the first half in Virgo and in the second half in Lebra, Sun in Cancer in the first half and in Leo in the second half Vergo indicate less than average rainfall.

The period between 15/8/12 to 28/9/12 indicates Natural hazards as both Saturn and Mars occupy Libra, the sign of wind and governing western direction.

During September there Saturn in Libra, Jupiter in Taurus with Ketu, Venus in watery sign Cancer, Rahu in Scorpio, Mars in Lebra, Sun in Leo in the first half and in Virgo in the second half Virgo indicate more than average rainfall.

Moon will be moving into watery signs Pisces-Cancer-Scorpio will give a spell of 2-3 rainy days at the interval of 9 days (June:13,22 July: 1,10,19,28 August: 6,16,25 Sept: 3,12,21,30 Oct: 9,18,27).

Overall 2012 will be near to average or below average rainfall year.

Gujarat Astrological Angle

Dear friends,

Gujarat in present form was born with an inauguration function at 8.00 am on 1/5/60 at Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad. It was born in Taurus lagna, Sukarma Yoga and with Moon in Gemini in Ardra nakshatra (the major reason of its money care!)

It was born in Rahu Mahadasha which lasted till 13/11/66. It has passed through the Mahadashas of Jupiter and Saturn and now passing through the Mahadasha of Mercury since 13/11/01. As Mercury being a lord of second house (Dhan & marak) and lord of fifth house (liquid currency) and is Vargottami in Navansha lagna; the period of 17 years from 13/1/01 to 13/11/18 become very important for the name and progress of Gujaratis as their wealth in terms of market value has gone up and will further go up till 2018.

At present the State is passing through Rahu antar and Ketu pratyantar in the Mahadasha of Mercury. Therefore Rahu and Ketu will be the ruling lords for the period from 5/11/12 to 30/12/12. As per the R&D of one of Gujarat's well known astrologer, Rahu indicates the support of minorities & backwards to the winners of life during this phase. Rahu antar ends on 29/11/13, followed by Jupiter and Saturn. The prashna kundali also indicated Ketu-Ketu-Rahu.

In Gochar Saturn (exalted) is aspecting the birth Sun which is also in exalted sign indicates great surprises.

Shubham Bhavatu Kalyanam.

Happy New Year 2012

Most of us are spending more time of our life sitting on a chair in a fixed posture.Sitting on a back seat (left side) in a car (to prove seniority!) has spoiled many backs by travelling thousands of kilometers with jerks in a long AIS career of 35-36 years. Britishers did give us a post of massager to relax and repair the body but the democratic kings didn’t like this luxury (!) to the officers and the facilities mostly been withdrawn.

Now it is a time for self treatment. The Chinese method of acupressure does come for our help. It is technique of pressing specific points to balance the energy in various organs of the body.

There are 12 meridians in the body; 6 are yin (structural) and 6 are yang (functional). Heart, pericardium, spleen, lungs, kidney and liver are called Yin. Small intestine, triple warmer, stomach, large intestine, urinary bladder, gall bladder are called Yang.

There are two extra ordinary meridians namely Governing Vessel (GV) and Conception Vessel (CV). GV and CV are located on the centre of the body both sides.

Urological, kidney, lumbago, sciatica, cervical spondylitis, psychosomatic and neurological disorders, migraine, etc. are signs and symptoms of the disorders of the GV.  Starting from the coccyx to upper lip, it has 28 points; 14 on the spine cord and 14 on neck- head- nose and upper lip. Two fingers left and right of the spine has many Urinary Bladder points addressing the disorders of head, neck, lumbago, legs, etc.

A gentle massage on the centre line from upper lip to last segment of the spine coccyx and massage on UB meridian points (two fingers left and right of the spine cord) will make our life better than before.

Therefore, start the New Year 2012 by pressing your back and front points free of cost and enjoy the Happiness and Prosperity of the Year 2012.

We wish you all a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2012.

Accupressure

Dear All,

I hope you have observed your body clock very carefully and identified the weak organ of the body, which does not tolerate the heavy flow of energy during maximum Qi time and feeling scarce of energy during the minimum Qi time.

As a theory the mother gives away energy to the son and the son takes away energy from the mother. The mother-son theory applies in acupressure. The mother points and son points have been identified for each organ.
One has to simply sedate the energy during the maximum Qi time and tonify the energy during minimum Qi time. The four hours treatment can definitely improve the quality of life of an individual.
Please look at the following table again with the additional information of sedation and tonification points.

The sedation and tonification are being done by pressing the son and mother points respectively during the organ clock time. This can be done by pressing the points with fenugreek seeds or magnate or applying colour. The black colour sedates the energy and the red tonifies the energy. Simply apply the theory for few days, see the change and thereafter confirm the above findings.

Now you need the locations of the above points for the treatment. There are two ways. One can use the original points located on the body or the dummy points on the palm-fingers of the hands. Both are OK, but the original points are more effective. As the palm-fingers points are easy to locate, people generally use them for the treatment. The males can use the left palm-fingers and the females can use right palm-fingers.

Now get ready and wait, I shall send you the body chart soon.

Do participate and enjoy the body game!

Punamchand Parmar

Ginger

Ginger

It is rainy season and our tongue demands fried food i.e. Bhajiya in Gujarat. But monsoon is a season of deficient fire in stomach. The digestion system is weak in this season. The religious gurus taught us to do fasting. Ek Tana in Chaturmas is very common amongst the Jains and Vaishnavs. But we are fond of eating and taking medicine. Some of us search for herbal medicine. There is an answer. The answer is Ginger (ardrak).

Ginger is anti-inflammatory, great for colds and arthritis. It contains more than 12 antioxidants. Helps reduce serum cholesterol levels, reduces tendency towards blood clots. It aids in circulation, stimulates vasomotor and respiratory center of the central nervous system. It kills roundworms as well as other parasites. It helps to relieve the body of congestion.

It is commonly used to treat various types of stomach problems. It can be used for treating upper respiratory tract infections, cough, and bronchitis. Fresh ginger is used for treating acute bacterial dysentery, baldness, malaria, poisonous snake bites, rheumatism, migraine headache, and toothaches.

Dried ginger is used for chest pain, low back pain, and stomach pain. Its characteristics surprise us as fresh ginger increases the motion, but dry ginger stops the motion. It is better to prefer dried ginger powder to lopramide to control intestinal peristalsis.

Ginger may be powerful weapon in the treatment of ovarian cancer. It may slow the growth of colorectal cancer cells. Many of us like ardrak ki chay. Please continue and if want to experiment further, start taking ardrak(100gms) juice with or without honey in the morning.

One of the ministers, an ayurved lover, preferred ginger to heart surgery, took 140 kg of ardrak juice with cow milk (no food, no water) for 10 months some 20 years ago. He is fine today at 77.

Caution:
Ginger might slow blood clotting. It might lower blood sugar. It might reduce blood pressure. Those who take medicine to treat all these must re-adjust their dosage.

Shubham bhavatu kalyanam.
