God hasn’t written our death

We are made of only one cell. After the fertilisation of the egg, the rapid process of division begins, the egg travels down from fallopian tube and implants in the uterus, an embryo starts growing. With hormone HSG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) produced by the cell, placenta forms. Thereafter, some cells from the embryo and some from the placenta build the body organs and make our full shape of human with all necessary organs. 

So there is one Master cell (blastocyst containing pluripotent stem cell) and thereafter, the tissue specific cells for each unit; cells for making heart, cells for making kidney, cells for making lever, etc, act as building blocks of making the body. It is interesting to note that the cells making heart can’t make kidney. The division of work is very clear. 

It is like building a house, we load plenty of material till the constructions get over. But once the construction completed, we keep limited reserve blocks, tiles etc, in the store room to attend small repairing. Similarly the materials, building blocks of cells are in plenty till we reach the age 20Y. If something gets damaged in young age, the recovery is faster because the body has enough stock of material to take care. But when the damage is bigger, it needs external support or assistance to repair. At 20, the body given to us by God is full of life and without any expiry date. We die due to external factors, our life style, food, environment, nature, accidents, etc. Therefore, the life line of all humans are not equal, some live more, some less. As we grow, we age. Ageing is a disease. In 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, as we progress in life, the building blocks and material support within the body decreases. The recovery slows down. We need more and more external support to recover. And one day, when all the options are closed, we die. Our ancient Rishis were living long by slowing down the process of ageing. 

An Indian Scientist Dr Anand Srivastava MS PhD, (of BHU and settled in US) considered the father of Stem Cell technology, has found out the way to create new building blocks to slow down the damage, stop the damage and reverse the process of damage. When President Reagan died of Alzheimer, his wife Nancy Reagan placed interest in the subject that whether Stem Cell Therapy could have cured her husband. She and Dr. Srivastava then opened the field of research and now the science is ready to treat humans.

The stem cell injected support the repairing and rejuvenation of the damaged organ. It can regenerate the brain cells. If the disease is in the initial stage, it gives great results. Individual’s own cells are used in treating many diseases. Our Rishi and the research of Stem Cell technology has proved that God hasn’t fixed our expiry date. Till life is protected, death can’t come.

Brahma Muhurta

We are made in God in the form of body and soul combo. All of us are living in four layers of life: Shudra, Vaishya, Kshatriya and Brahmana. When we run after our body or other’s body, we are Shudras. When we run after our mind and it’s desires, we are Vaishyas. When we search for the answer, who am I, the Atma, we are Kshatriya. And when we surrender to the Almighty, the Brahman, मामेकं शरणं व्रज:, we become Brahmin.

After a deep sound sleep of 6-8 hours, when we wake up in the early morning hours before the Sun rise, our body is relaxed, mind is empty without thoughts, the soul is in peace, the world around is at rest and that time when if we dive deep inside with total surrenderness, the Brahmana born. One wing of ‘Love’ with the beauty of outer world/nature and another wing of ‘Meditation’ to be aware of the inner Ocean; one may fly with the wings and transcendent.

Early to rise in the Brahma Muhurta is a beginning of a journey to become a Brahmana, in search of the Brahman, free from the limits of body, mind and soul.

The best time for अथातो ब्रह्म जिज्ञासा।

Engineering Wonder of Gujarat 

During my childhood and in teen age, I had seen hundreds of women walking for 2-3 kilometre carrying drinking water heavy pots over their heads in many villages of Gujarat. I had witnessed consecutive three drought years (1985-87), witnessed water transport by tankers and train, and functioned as a part of Scarcity Management Team in a tribal district. I being a Collector of the largest district of the State (25% area), Kutch, witnessed water scarcity and tiredness of traveling many kilometres without greens around. Had tasted tea with villagers made of Heavy TDS water. With hardly 10% of irrigated land, except South Gujarat and few patches of Junagadh, the State was like a barren land in Summer. 

When I went to Punjab first time on election duty in 2004, looking at its green fields, canals and perennial rivers, I fell in love with the State. It was a complete contrast colour of the life. People may be bothered about alcohol or chicken but not bothered about water scarcity. 

On continuous insistence of the Chief Secretary in COS meeting to visit Narnada Canal and Water Works, I took a chance to travel along the coast of Narmada Canal from Gandhinagar to Dholi Dhaja Dam in Surendranagar last week. It was a joyous travel as if I was traveling in Punjab. As the inflow of water in canal is less this year due to low rainfall in the catchment area of MP and Maharastra, the Canal was not flowing at its optimal capacity, but the oil engines lifting water from both sides of canal have kept the farms green to make the surroundings attractive. 

The Narmada Main Canal is 458 km long passing through 9 districts of the State has been divided into two at Y Junction near Kadi, where the main canal continues towards north Gujarat and Rajashthan, but a branch canal for Saurastra begins, that is further divided into branches, minors and sub minors. Both the MNC and Branch Canals have large number of hydronic structures: canal falls, siphon, river escapes, regulators etc. 

The most impressive engineering wonder is the construction of Saurastra Branch Canal (SBC) (424.8 cumecs) of 104 km. Saurastra is like an inverted saucer with highest elevation near Chotila. The alignment of the SBC crosses peculiar topography with a falling ground from its 0 to 59 km by about 52 metre and than after rise of ground by about 66 metre. Without crossing this deep, it is impossible to bring water of Narmada in Saurastra and Kutch.

Due to topography, it was impossible to transport water through gravity due to natural depression. But the engineers of Gujarat made it possible by constructing world’s largest lifting facility (18872 MLD), lifted the whole SBC of 424.8 cumecs capacity up to a height of 66 metre through a pumping station solution. 

The first pumping station at Dhanki lifted it up to 10.81 metre (230 cumecs), second lift of 15.67 metre (120 cumecs) at Lakhtar, third lift of 15.67 metre at Bala (120 cumecs), fourth lift of 12.05 metre at Rajpur (80 cumecs) and the fifth lift of 17.08 metre (80 cumecs) at Dudhrej. With total 33 pumps in all, the water is lifted up from down canal and poured into the upper canal. This is done 5 times. As if the huge Canal is climbing up the ladder. They are expanding the pumping stations in phases to increase their lifting capacity to its ultimate planned capacity. 

The three water fall points are beautiful attracting tourists, will generate hydro electricity 45 MW (15 MW each) within a year. 

All the sites are pictorial and are attracting people and birds. You can see many King Fishers fishing and storing fishes in their beautiful nests made like a store house, presenting their engineering skill of making the nests. If humans can present their engineering skills, why the Kingfishers live behind? 

It is not far away, hardly a 250 kms journey to make a trip along with the canal with a visit of Y Junction, Dhanki, Dholi Dhaja and Return after the hospitality lunch offered by the SSNNL.

Fireball 

Have you seen a Fireball? 

Don’t imagine Fireball Whiskey!

A ball of fire. Fire has no shape, then how could it be a ball? We see fire in ball shape but with intellect understand that it is a red hot iron ball in fire. 

Humans in general are extroverts, active in capturing knowledge of different subjects with the help of inner cause (antahkaran: man-buddhi-chitta-ahankar: mind-intellect-memory-ego) following the vritti- the waves or ripples of disturbance upon the mind. The antahkarana and it’s waves are jada, the dead. But with the reflection of the chetan, the consciousness, it looks live like the fireball. It is not the iron, the dead giving the light, but the fire/light is reflecting through the iron ball, the antahkarana. The Jada/dead looks alive because of the reflection of the consciousness over it. 

But this vriti can be the mean to reach to the consciousness, when it is turned introvert. Generally, we are attached to these waves, therefore, unable to differentiate the waves and I. But once we start observing these waves, we can easily realise our separation from the waves. Without consciousness, the wave can’t give us knowledge of consciousness. The reflection reminds us it’s reason, the consciousness. 

Our eyes can’t see our face without the mirror. But looking at the mirror image, with or without mirror, we accept the knowledge of our face. Similarly, with the observation of the reflections of consciousness over the waves, we can realise the existence. 

The waves covered with consciousness is indirect, as there is obstruction of wave/mirror. Pure consciousness is neither Pratyaksh (in front of eye, empirical) nor Paroksh (away from eye) but it is Aproksh (transcendental). It is knowledge of a face without a mirror. The ripples get knowledge of subjects due to the reflection of the consciousness, it is a mirror image. But the root of it, is the pure consciousness. 

What is consciousness? We realise but can’t explain. Because we don’t need any evidence to prove our existence. Pure consciousness can’t be the subject matter of the ripples or mind. But with continuous chintan/thinking of the light/consciousness/knowledge, the ripples disappear and the vriti becomes brahmakar. 

Each vriti/ripple/wave of the antahkarana is the message of the chetan/consciousness. The vriti is the gateway to know the self, the witness of all the ripples. Without I/He/Self/consciousness, knowledge of subjects and objects is not possible. Knowledge/Gyan is the chetan/consciousness; and each event of knowledge prove the presence of consciousness/existence. Therefore, whole universe is He, the existence, the knowledge, the consciousness only. Universe doesn’t exist without knowledge/consciousness. 

There is no difference like my Chaitanya and your Chaitanya or his/her Chaitanya. The Chaitanya, consciousness of all is One only, the witness, the gyan, the base of everything. 

There is only one way to reach there. By introvert path of watching, analysing and witnessing the chitta vritis and observing the source of it’s light. Slowly slowly, the vriti/pratibmba disappears and the Brahman/Bimba realise. Who realises whom? He is the Sindhu where Bindu disappears. 

ॐ  ब्रह्मानन्दं परमसुखदं केवलं ज्ञानमूर्तिं
द्वन्द्वातीतं गगनसदृशं तत्त्वमस्यादिलक्ष्यम् ।
एकं नित्यं विमलमचलं सर्वधीसाक्षिभूतं
भावातीतं त्रिगुणरहितं सद्गुरुं तं नमामि ॥

It is a Spiritual addiction beyond the reach of the Fireball Whiskey!!! Lol.

Indians

Indians

India is the only country in the world has two names: Bharat in Hindi and India in English. 

During my first visit to US in 1996, I had asked a question to an American, we are Indian but why do you call some of your population Red Indian? They are redskins and are natives of North America, he replied. They might had migrated from Asia? The natives/primitive tribes are called Indians generally. Somebody mentioned that as per Oxford Dictionary - 1900 century - Page no. 789, "India" word means Poor - Old fashioned - Criminal people. Christopher Columbus, who mistakenly believed that the Antilles were the islands of the Indian Ocean, known to Europeans as the Indies. Christopher landed on Caribbean Island and identified it Indies. Somebody argued that India' has everything to do with the word 'Indigenous' and very little to do with the word 'Indus' because the Persians who came through Indus did not call it India and the Europeans in whose era the name 'India' caught up, did not come through Indus! However popular belief is that the name India is derived from Indus, which originates from the Old Persian word Hindu. The latter term stems from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which was the historical local appellation for the Indus River. The ancient Greeks referred to the Indians as Indoi which translates as "The people of the Indus". We were exploring the options. 

River Sindhu (Indus/Hindu) originates from the vicinity of Mansarovar in Tibetan Plateau (West Tibet) and flows through India (J&K: Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan) and Pakistan. One of it’s tributaries Nara was flowing through Kutch and was meeting the Sea at Narayan Sarovar, but after the high magnitude earthquake of 1819, a barrier Alladam Bund (80 km long, 6 km wide and 6 m high) was created by the nature, stopped the flow of the river. However, Kutch is getting the under current water of Sindhu in the pockets of Nakhtrana where agriculture is very rich even today in the so called desert district. 

Are we Hindu or Indian?

Before independence, we were popularly known as Hindustan. But after creation of Pakistan, we have preferred the name Bharat/India. With word Hindu, the identity of the religion attached. Those who believe in many deities, believe in the theory of rebirth, believe in idols worship, believe in rituals, follow the umbrella religion of Hindu are called Hindu and for them India is Bharat, their mother land. Within Hindus, there are people who don’t believe in idol worship and pray the formless God. Adweta philosophy believes in the theory of One God. There are others who were worshipping nature, living in forest and were unaware of the theories of Hinduism. There were many who changed their faith, followed the faith of the Kings, followed Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, Chritianity. The invaders whenever came, came in small numbers and were mostly single. Over the years, they married and settled here and merged into the main stream of Indianism. 

Hindu, Sindhu or Indu....HSI...people may argue but at the end of the day, the island belong to the permanent residents whether the natives or the invaders or the immigrants.

India is our mother land, 

सारे जहाँ से अच्छा हिन्दोस्तां हमारा
हम बुलबुलें हैं इसकी ये गुलिस्तां हमारा ll

The path of the lord is for courageous

The path of the Lord is for the Courageous 

One of our senior colleagues once said, ‘hare ko harinam’. He believes that the path of spirituality is for the losers or for the olds. At young age, one should use the life and energy for the material world. 

Hindi Poet Randhari Singh Dinkar, in his poem ‘Hare ko Harinam’ prays for the bravery : राम, तुम्हारा नाम कण्ठ में रहे; हृदय, जो कुछ भेजो, वह सहे; दु:ख से त्राण नहीं मांगूं।मांगूं केवल शक्ति दु:ख सहने की; दुदिर्न को भी मान तुम्हारी दया, अकातर ध्यानमग्न रहने की। Gujarati poet Pritamdas in his famous Bhajan wrote: હરિનો મારગ છે શૂરાનો, નહિ કાયરનું કામ જોને, પરથમ પે’લું મસ્તક મૂકી, વરતી લેવું નામ જોને. (The path of the lord is for the courageous. One has to surrender the ego before praying that Almighty). 

What is this path? Rama, Krishna, King Janak, Buddha, Mahavir, Jesus, Muhammad, Shankaracharya, Guru Nanak, Kabir, Tulsidas, Mirabai, Narsinh Mehta, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Ramkrishna, Gandhi, and millions have walked on this path. 

It is a path to know thyself, the easiest but the most difficult task. The Almighty exist all time everywhere, still beyond the reach of the human senses. HE exists but we can’t see, can’t hear, can’t smell, can’t touch. One may acquire knowledge of many subjects but is unable to know the Self. Sings Shivoham, but search for the Shiva, Rama, Almighty somewhere in the sky. What a puzzle?

Who will, when begin to walk on this path? In childhood like Shankaracharya? In youth like Vivekananda? Most of them have walked on the path of the lord in the pick of their youthfulness. After removing the sucrose from the sugarcane stem, what to do with the bagasse? 

Vedanta Sutra says, the path begins at the mode of mind: athato brahm jigyasa! (now is the time to inquire about the absolute truth). In the various forms of life lower than human life the intelligence does not go beyond the range of life's primary necessities--namely eating, sleeping, mating and defending. In the human form of life, however, one should be intelligent enough to ask what he is, why he has come into the world, what his duty is, who is the supreme controller/source of everything, etc, so many questions: athato brahma jijyasa.

Like every other exams, one needs some preparedness to begin with. It is called shadhan chatusthya (four means of salvation):

1. Viveka (discrimination between the real and the unreal, between the permanent and the impermanent, between the Self and the non-Self); 2. Vairagya (dispassion for the pleasures of this world and of heaven); 3. Shad Sampat: Sama is eradication of desires; Dama is rational control of the senses; Uparati is turning the mind away from desire for sensual enjoyment; Titiksha is the power of endurance; Sraddha is intense faith in God, master and scriptures; Samadhana is fixing the mind on Brahman or the Self; 4. Mumukshutva is intense desire for liberation or deliverance from the wheel of births and deaths with its concomitant evils of old age, disease, delusion and sorrow.

There are two types of Gunas: Pakya and Aapya. Pakya to leave and Aapya to gain. Raga (attraction, see positive), Dwesha (repulsion, see negative) and Moha (dullness), are the boils over our personality are Pakya, to be dropped not by pressure but by understanding their uselessness. Simplicity, thinking of pure consciousness Atma and repetition of this knowledge till the mind merges into the pure consciousness are the three gunas one has to acquire by practice. 

Once the runway is ready, one may takeoff the plane into the Ocean of the Supreme Being, the Self, the Atma, the pure consciousness, the Brahman. 

It is the path of the Lord for the Courageous. One shall walk when young, because the sugarcane stalk without sucrose turns into the bagasse.

Kem Chho? केनेषितं।

How could fire fires the fire?
How could fire lights the fire?
How could pincers holds the hand that is holding it?
How could Eyes see it’s eye?
How could ears hear it’s ear?
How could nose smell it’s nose?
How could mind think of it’s mind?
How could the 5 action senses and 5 knowledge senses realise the source of their light/power/strength?

HE is not object of seeing. HE is no an object of hearing. HE is not an object of thinking. Therefore, when to describe HE, the BRAHMAN, the mouth shuts, the eyes close, and the mind goes in silence.

One of the 108 Upanishads is Kenopnishada. A Upanishad that presents the straight question and straight answer. It was probably composed in 1st millennium before the Buddhist and Jain cannons. 

The first verse starts with the word केनेषितं। by whom? 

केनेषितं पतति प्रेषितं मनः; केन प्राणः प्रथमः प्रैति युक्तः ।
केनेषितां वाचमिमां वदन्ति; चक्षुः श्रोत्रं क उ देवो युनक्ति ॥ १ ॥

(In simple words: By whom the mind thinks? By whom we breath? By whom, we speak? By which deva, the ears hear and eyes see?)

Kena suggests that Brahman is not Upashya, therefore it can’t be worshipped. It is that which hears the sound in ears, sees the view in eyes, speaks the words of speech, smells the aroma in breath, comprehends the meaning in thought. The Atman-Brahman is in man, not that which one worships outside.

And we follow the wisdom of Kenopanishada in our day to day life without understanding it’s meaning. Gujarati will say kem chho?, Hindi will say, kaise ho? Marathi will say, aapan kasa ahet?, English will say, how are you? Everybody is asking the first question of Kenopanishada? By whom, with whose power, you are in existence? And we, instead of realising the Brahman, reply as per the condition and mood of our senses. 

Therefore, next time when someone asks you, kem chho, kaise ho, kasa aahet, how are you, etc; be awake, take a deep dive into the Ocean of Brahman and think, केनेषितं। HE is beyond thinking. HE is YOU, अहं ब्रह्मास्मि। अखंड, एकरस, अत्र तत्र सर्वत्र। 

ऊँ शांति। शांति।। शांति : ।।।
