Republic of Korea, a model of Spectacular Growth

Republic of Korea, A Model of Spectacular Growth

Republic of Korea (South Korea) a peninsula with 100,140 sq km area of which mountain cover is 70%, with a population of 48 million people among them 47% have no religion, 23% Buddhist, 18% Protestants, 11% Catholics, 1% other religion. It is well known in the world with its spectacular growth in the last 30 years. Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution in Korea. As a result, large numbers of people believe in no religion, concentrating on their present life with comforts and happiness.

A Mongolian race people are simple and social like Asian culture. Males earn and give money to the wives and enjoy food and drinks. (they bow down to their wives for demanding money and love: ton juseyo, sarange juseyo everyday!) The females are the backbone of the country as they look after family, finance, farming and jobs.

Rice still remains the staple of most Koreans. Korean meal accompanied by various side dishes. A Korean traditional meal is not complete without kimchi, a mixture of various pickled vegetables such as Chinese cabbage, radish, green onion and cucumber. Kimchi are prepared with red chili powder and garlic and are soaked in a tasty liquid. People didn’t get vegetables for many months due to the cold climates. Tin late November or early December, Korean families used to prepare enough kimchi to last long winter. The kimchi was stored in large clay jars partially buried to maintain temperature and retain flavour. Now there are refrigerators to preserve kimchi. It is considered hot food with lot of red chilies (not near to the hotness of Indian food). People eat everything including fish, cells, crabs, octopus, chicken, duck, pork, dogs, etc. Pork and coffee become popular in the new generation Koreans.

The creation of Hangul in the early Joseon period was a key turning point in the history of Korean literature. King Sejong the Great (1392-1450), one of the wisest and most outstanding kings of Korean history has developed Korean written language ‘Hangul’ with the help of scholars. The Korean alphabet has 24 characters; 14 consonants and 10 vowels. They are unique because, consonants are made by following the shape of the pronunciation organ and vowels are made by combining of 3 elements '․, ㅡ, ㅣ', which symbolize the sun, earth and people, the most fundamental features in the universe. Every Korean word is made of the combinations of the consonants and vowels. For us few sentences were important. ‘an nyong ha se yo’ to greet; ‘ol ma ye yo’ to ask price; ‘kka kka ju se yo’ to demand discount and ‘gam sa Ham ni da’ for thanks.

A Japanese Colony from 1910-1945 was liberated in 1945 was almost destroyed in civil wars between 1950-53 and got divided into North Korea and South Korea following Communist Government and Capitalist Government respectively. Russia supported the North Korean communist troops to destroy South Korea. USA guarded South Korea against the attacks. Approximately 28000 USA soldiers are camped here to guard the country. Both the brother countries spending very huge amount of budget on their defense, the same like Pakistan and India. United together, Korea can surpass Japan.

South Korea has followed Capitalist Economic Policies of Export Oriented Industrialization; Industrial sequencing starting from Labour Intensive Industries (Textiles, Garments, toys, etc.) to Capital Intensive Industries (Electronics, Car, Ship, Oil Refinery, Civil Works, etc.) to High Value Added Industries. It has 10% large, 20% medium and 70% small industries. The size of the economy is 15th in the world. It’s export ratio is 43.4%. Samsung, LG, Hyundai, PASCO are the market leaders in the field of electronics & home appliances, car and constructions respectively.

A story of Samsung started with a small company to make black & white TV in 1969, now reached to earn revenue of $148.9 billion with operating profit of $14.7 billion in 2011 is very encouraging for any entrepreneur. It is global no.1 in TV, monitor, smart phone, DRAM, DDI, NAND Pash; global no.2 in printer and LCD panels. Sony of Japan is trailing in losses and Samsung is competing with Apple. A thrilling story of a poor young man stealing a cow from his father sold it and came to a city, working in a rice shop, lifting bags on shoulders and moving with a bicycle, developed a giant industry PASCO in construction industries is one of the examples of the Korean’s strength and dedication to grow.

In 1963, workers in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors accounted for 63% of the total labour force. This figure dropped to 6.6% in 2010. By contrast the share of tertiary industry grew from 28.3% of employed people in 1963 to 76.4% in 2010. In the 1970s and 1980s, the government focused on the cultivation of a skilled workforce.

Its President Park, Chung Lee (1960-1978) who gave a mold to the country to follow path of Development Dictatorship said, “In human life, economics precedes politics or culture.” Large number of people believes that religion is an obstruction against growth as it kills desire of the people to become the best.

The country with a GNI Per Capita $63 in 1953, $1000 in 1977, $11385 in 1995, $7000 in 1997 (financial crisis), $20320 in 2007 has reached to $29010 in 2010. It was a country receiving Grant-in aid in form of consumer goods till 1960; received development assistance in form of technical cooperation & loans during 1960-70; and a Donor country since 1990. It has established Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in 1991 and Join OECD/DAC in 2010.

It has organized Asian Games in 1986, Olympic Games in 1988. Korean youths are very good in Archery, wrestling, judo, taekwondo, badminton, boxing, shooting, TT, weightlifting and handball.

Some say that Korea is an American puppy.  They are copying America. Christian faith has made strong inroads into the country. Coffee has replaced tea. People prefer pork to sea food. They have followed the same democratic model of USA with a directly elected President and two parliamentary houses, Congress and Senate. American President lives in White House, Korean President Lives in Blue House. USA started FEMA (Federal Emergency Management System), Korea started NEMA (National Emergency Management System). Koreans are marching ahead copying Americans in the interest of the people of Korea.

Korea has a lot to offer visitors; a peninsular country with picturesque valleys, mountains, rivers, beaches, ancient temples, royal palaces, sculptures, pagodas, archeological sites, fortresses, folk villages and museums. Seoul the capital is the world’s 10th largest city with the glistering facades of soaring skyscrapers and bustling traffic represent its vibrant present. Busan is the second largest metro city with beautiful beaches located at the southeast of the country. Jeju, a honeymoon island is the centre of tourist attractions.

Don’t miss a chance visiting Republic of Korea, A Model of Spectacular Growth.

Rahu in Scorpion

Rahu in Scorpio and Saturn in Libra will establish Rule of Law
(Only for the believers)

I was looking at planetary movements and the vents happening around and was wondering, whether there is any link between political turmoil and Rahu’s presence in Scorpio. Rahu entered Scorpio the depleted sign of Moon on 6/6/11 and will remain there till 22/12/2012.

In past, Rahu was in Scorpio from 30/3/74 to 12/10/75 [Allahabad conviction, declaration of emergency (21/3/75), Navnirman agitation, MISA, suspension of elections, politicians in jail] and from 12/11/55 to 15/1/57 (period of Mundhra scam of LIC followed by resignation of Finance Minister TT Krishnamachari).

What is seen in present public environment? Opposition attacking the ruling parties, pressures on governments, CBI/SIT inquiries, politicians and babus in Jails, people’s unrest, demand of Lokpal, price rise and economic crisis, scams uncovered, active judiciary with landmark judgments, commissions and committees to decide important issues, active print and electronic media, etc.

It seems that the trend may continue in 2012.

We saw new rulers in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya after mass agitations.

The Saturn has entered in moon sign Libra since 15/11/2011 and will remain there for 30 months except some period of retrogative movements. Libra is an escalated sign of the Saturn, therefore, the strength of Saturn is at its pick. Libra is a sign of balance and justice. As it moves ahead, it will bring fortunes to many and will establish the rule of law in the country. Those who have managed judiciary for some time will now come under the scanner of the Lady Justice. The Lady Justice wearing blindfold (objectivity), balancing the scales of truth and fairnesswill prevail at the end.

Jupiter is in sign Aries making Gajkeshari yoga for people having moon sign Aries will change sign in May 2012. At present, the Saturn and Jupiter aspect over each other indicates the victory of diplomacy. Those who follow diplomacy will survive.
The positive or negative results due to the movement on Rahu, Saturn and Jupiter will depend on individual’s janma lagn, navansh, vishotari, planetary position with degrees in his/her horoscop and gochar movements of planets.

Those who have interest in personal reading need an astrologer who can read it!

Happy New Year 2012

Most of us are spending more time of our life sitting on a chair in a fixed posture.  Sitting on a back seat (left side) in a car (to prove seniority!) has spoiled many backs by travelling thousands of kilometers with jerks in a long AIS career of 35-36 years. Britishers did give us a post of massager to relax and repair the body but the democratic kings didn’t like this luxury (!) to the officers and the facilities mostly been withdrawn.

Now it is a time for self treatment. The Chinese method of acupressure does come for our help. It is technique of pressing specific points to balance the energy in various organs of the body.

There are 12 meridians in the body; 6 are yin (structural) and 6 are yang (functional). Heart, pericardium, spleen, lungs, kidney and liver are called Yin. Small intestine, triple warmer, stomach, large intestine, urinary bladder, gall bladder are called Yang.

There are two extra ordinary meridians namely Governing Vessel (GV) and Conception Vessel (CV). GV and CV are located on the centre of the body both sides.

Urological, kidney, lumbago, sciatica, cervical spondylitis, psychosomatic and neurological disorders, migraine, etc. are signs and symptoms of the disorders of the GV.  Starting from the coccyx to upper lip, it has 28 points; 14 on the spine cord and 14 on neck- head- nose and upper lip. Two fingers left and right of the spine has many Urinary Bladder points addressing the disorders of head, neck, lumbago, legs, etc.

A gentle massage on the centre line from upper lip to last segment of the spine coccyx and massage on UB meridian points (two fingers left and right of the spine cord) will make our life better than before.

Therefore, start the New Year 2012 by pressing your back and front points free of cost and enjoy the Happiness and Prosperity of the Year 2012.

We wish you all a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2012.

Shubham Bhavatu Kalyanam.

Yours truly,

Baba and Peace

Baba and Peace

There are many Babas in India. Some are known, some unknown. Some are liked  and some are not liked by the intellectuals!

During my election duty in Bihar in 2006, I happened to meet couple of Babas. I asked a question to one of them, 'how to identify a Saint in Babas?'

The Baba answered, 'the way you get relief and rest under the tree after walking a long distance in summer afternoon; one get peace of mind with release of heart burns once go near to the Saint.' The  magnet of peace attract large number of people around them.

I had opportunities to meet many such Saints and experience peace of life.

It is a matter of faith. But don't miss trying and experiencing it when you have a chance to meet them. They may not give you health and wealth but surely remove the fire of heart and make you peaceful.

Check what we eat, what we drink

Check what we eat and what we think.

Our happiness depends upon the internal factors as well as external factors.

Let us check the internal factors (atma bodh) first.

A mind control breathes and breathes control the mind. The speed and length of breathes determine the status of our mind and moods.

Patanjali Yogsutra has suggested ‘Ashtang Yog’ (yama, niyama, asana, pranayam, pratyahar, dharna, dhyan and samadhi) to improve the ‘panch koshas’ (annanmay, pranmay, manomay, vigyanmay and anandmay). Of which aasanas and pranayams are popular. Following path of ashtang yoga can improve our physical and mental health.

Food also plays important role in quality, length and output of life. A famous phrase ‘Jaisa anna vaisa mann’, indicates the importance of our food items. It is said that thoughts are the refined and smallest form of the food we eat. Our mind (Brahma) is the place for generation of thoughts. Thoughts are coming and going. But the thought which holds our attention, starts getting energy and life (Vishnu). The series of such thoughts develop our nature. The nature put us in actions and the actions bring positive or negative results in our life.

Therefore, let us check up first, the food cereal(grasses) grains (carbohydrates).
Vegetarians are called grass eaters by non-vegetarians! But cereals are grasses only. Therefore, all of us are grass eaters!

There are many cereal grains, i.e., wheat, rice, millet, jowar, barley, maize, etc. But most of us eat wheat and rice mainly. As both the grains can be preserved for a long, they have captured the major position in our food basket.

As we grow older, the metabolism rate goes down and the digestion system gets weaker. As some hormones are getting off, the taste of tongue plays major role in our ‘vanprashtha’. As we eat as per the taste of tongue and unable to digest, the body mass index get adverse. It increases load over our heart pump and damage the quality and length of life.

Wheat is good for strength of bones and muscles. But the ‘gluten’ in wheat gives stomach pains. Therefore, rice eaters are uncomfortable with wheat. Those who have complaints of heaviness of stomach, indigestion can stop taking wheat for some days.

Rice is cold in nature and it increases sperm count (major reason of population explosion in Asia!). Those who have inflamed intestines and edema over naval centre can stop eating rice for some days.

Pearl millet (bajari) is a big source of iron. If taken with buttermilk (folic acid), it improves the hemoglobin and in turn improves brain and body functions. But it is hot in nature, therefore generally eaten in winter. Winter is on, therefore, enjoy bajari with buttermilk.

Those who have heat problem in stomach can opt for Jowar. It is cold in nature and calms down the bowel movement. It is good for ‘rogy’ (going for stools many times!). Those who have constipation can take ‘harde’ after the meal.

Barley popular by its product Beer, is good for regeneration of cells. It is said that neurons can’t be regenerated once lost. But barley regenerate them. Beware; there is prohibition in the state. Better to eat chapattis of barley or mix barley with wheat. It is good for those who have fire (pitta) problem. It stabilizes the fetus and prevents miscarriages.

Maize/corn a food for tribal/indigenous people make them very strong and hard worker. It needs physical movement to digest it. It is cold in nature and create gas, therefore, can take ‘harde’ after the meal.

Choice of cereal is yours!

Shubham bhavatu kalyanam.

Mortal Body

Dear Colleagues,

We have worked in many departments. Let us understand our own two major departments: Mortal and Immortal, Jad and Chetan, Prakriti and Purush, Body and Atma.

We are Immortal, Chaitanya, Purush, Atma. We have body. We are not the body.

Let me explain the Mortal, the Body today.

We have 5 bodies, i.e. Annamay Kosh, Pranmay Kosh, Manomay Kosh, Vighyanmay Kosh and Anandmay Kosh. Five cells, bodies. The same can be explained by Sthool, Sukshma and Karan sharira.

The physical body is Annamay Kosh (5 tatva: akash, vayu, agni, jal and prithvi), the breathing system is Pranmay Kosh (5 pran: pran, apan, udan, vyan, saman), the mind is Manomay Kosh (5 karmendriya and 5 gyanendriya: eyes, ears, tongue, nose, skin), the buddhi/wisdom is Vighyanmay Kosh and the happiness is Anandmay Kosh.

Each body needs energy and maintenance to survive. Each one has problems, which we call diseases.

Our ancient Rishis have developed various methods/therapies to treat each body and get the best out put.

Right regular food, pratyahar and Asanas are medicines for the physical body, the Annamay Kosh.

Deep breathing and Pranayam are medicines for the Pranmay Kosh.

Sankalp-Vikalp Chintan, Yam, Niyam and Dharna are medicines for Manomay Kosh.

Yam, Niyam are useful for Annamay and Pranmay kosh too.

Manan, Nidhidhyasan (to practice) and accepting the right path are for Vighyanmay Kosh.

Samadhi, Samata, Santosh are for Anandmay Kosh.

The health of one body affects the others. Similarly, the problem of one can lead to problem to others.

Good Health of physical body leads to healthy breathing system, which leads to healthy mind.

Healthy mind selects the correct path and leads the life in happiness, joy and peace.

The repairing of one of them definitely improves the others, but repairing of all will make the life best.

Let us examine the deficit we have and try to fill it up with the right way.

Our body is mortal but it is like a machine or a car. It can run longer and efficiently if we take care of its energy, repairs and maintenance.

Older the car/body it needs more care and maintenance.

The young car holders shall drive it fast but beware of accidents!

The old car holders shall use it carefully and look after the maintenance.

Shubham Bhavtu,

Body Engine, repair by Accupressure

Dear All,

I hope you have observed your body clock very carefully and identified the weak organ of the body, which does not tolerate the heavy flow of energy during maximum Qi time and feeling scarce of energy during the minimum Qi time.

As a theory the mother gives away energy to the son and the son takes away energy from the mother. The mother-son theory applies in acupressure. The mother points and son points have been identified for each organ.

One has to simply sedate the energy during the maximum Qi time and tonify the energy during minimum Qi time. The four hours treatment can definitely improve the quality of life of an individual.

Please look at the following table again with the additional information of sedation and tonification points.

The sedation and tonification are being done by pressing the son and mother points respectively during the organ clock time. This can be done by pressing the points with fenugreek seeds or magnate or applying colour. The black colour sedates the energy and the red tonifies the energy. Simply apply the theory for few days, see the change and thereafter confirm the above findings.

Now you need the locations of the above points for the treatment. There are two ways. One can use the original points located on the body or the dummy points on the palm-fingers of the hands. Both are OK, but the original points are more effective. As the palm-fingers points are easy to locate, people generally use them for the treatment. The males can use the left palm-fingers and the females can use right palm-fingers.

Now get ready and wait, I shall send you the body chart soon.

Do participate and enjoy the body game!
