जन्माष्टमी । 

ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय

अज्ञान के अंधकार में जागता चैतन्य

श्रीकृष्ण वासुदेव हैं—वह चैतन्य जो प्रत्येक हृदय में विद्यमान है। दूसरी शताब्दी ईसा पूर्व का हेलियोडोरस स्तंभ इस बात का प्राचीन साक्ष्य है कि वासुदेव की भक्ति उस समय तक प्रतिष्ठित हो चुकी थी। उसी परंपरा में गूंजता है मंत्र—ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय—जो हमें बाहरी संसार से भीतर के प्रकाश की ओर ले जाता है।

जन्माष्टमी की कथा हमें स्मरण कराती है कि श्रीकृष्ण का जन्म केवल इतिहास नहीं, बल्कि हमारे भीतर चैतन्य के जागरण का रूपक है। 

देवकी शरीर हैं, कंस अहंकार और कारागार बँधा हुआ मन। वसुदेव विवेक के मंथन से जो मक्खन पैदा होता है वह है श्रीकृष्ण। अज्ञान के अंधकार की काल रात्रि को दूर हटाता चैतन्य दीप —यही कृष्ण का जन्म है। 

आठवीं संतान, अष्टमी और आठवाँ अवतार संख्या नहीं रूपक है।अष्टकोण आठ दिशाओं, अष्टांग साधना, अष्टांग मार्ग; सनातन, जैन, बौद्ध और योग परंपराओं में आत्मचेतना की पूर्णता और आत्म जागरण के संकेत है।

जब अहंकार शांत होता है, मन निर्मल होता है और प्रेम का दीप अंधकार में प्रज्वलित होता है, तभी वासुदेव हमारे हृदय में प्रकट होते हैं।

सांख्य का पुरुष, जैन दर्शन की शुद्ध आत्मा और बुद्ध का बोध—ये सब उसी एक सत्य की भिन्न अभिव्यक्तियाँ हैं। 

भक्ति का अर्थ किसी दूर बैठे देवता को खोजना नहीं, बल्कि अपने भीतर जागते उस प्रेम, करुणा और आनंद में डूब जाना है।

जन्माष्टमी का संदेश यही है: अपने हृदय में वासुदेव को जन्म दो।

जहाँ प्रेम की राधा है, वहीं कृष्ण हैं।

Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya

Consciousness Awakens in the Darkness of Ignorance

Sri Krishna is Vāsudeva—the divine consciousness that resides in every heart. The Heliodorus Pillar of the 2nd century BCE stands as one of the earliest historical testimonies that the worship of Vāsudeva had already become well established. From that same tradition echoes the sacred mantra:

Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya—a prayer that leads us from the outer world to the light within.

Janmashtami reminds us that Krishna’s birth is not merely a historical event; it is a profound allegory for the awakening of consciousness within us. Devaki symbolizes the body, Kansa the ego, and the prison the mind bound by ignorance and attachment. Vāsudeva represents awakened wisdom, and Krishna is the pure butter born from the churning of discernment. The lamp of consciousness that dispels the dark midnight of ignorance—that is the true birth of Krishna.

The eighth child, Ashtami, and the eighth incarnation are not numbers alone; they are symbols. The octagon, the eight directions, the Eightfold Path, and the eight limbs of Yoga all signify the fullness of self-awareness and spiritual awakening across the Sanātana, Jain, Buddhist, and Yogic traditions.

When the ego becomes silent, the mind grows pure, and the flame of love is kindled in the darkness, Vāsudeva manifests in the human heart. The Purusha of Sāṅkhya, the pure Self of Jain philosophy, and the Awakened Bodhi of the Buddha are different expressions of the same eternal truth.

Bhakti is not the search for a distant deity; it is the experience of the love, compassion, and bliss that awaken within.

The message of Janmashtami is simple: Let Vāsudeva be born in your own heart.

Where there is Radha—the embodiment of love—there Krishna is present.
