Life in the balance of Potassium and Sodium

Life in the balance of Potassium and Sodium.

Potassium and Sodium are essential nutrients of our life. The balance between them regulate the electrolytes and in turn keep the vital organs in order and keep our light on.

Potassium improves the functions of brain and memory. In memory loss or Alzheimer, potassium intake is advised. But excessive potassium damages the heart function. The sudden loss of pulse and heart beats essentially linked with very high potassium in the blood.

Sodium is another essential element of our life. It has direct relation with blood pressure. Sodium reduction can increase in plasma cholesterol and plasma triglyceride. It balances the potassium, therefore saves the heart.

It is said that dying person remembers entire life events before departure. Is that a play of increased potassium? Increasing brain function reminds him/her deed and simultaneously decreasing heart rate takes away his/her life.

Humans are smarter. If they eat more salt they can balance by eating potassium. Sometimes, they add salt in potassium rich food to maintain balance. Potatoes, bananas, water malon, tomatoes, apples, avocados, leafy greens, nuts, apricots, salmon, and mushrooms are high in potassium, and it's easier for people to add things to their diet than to take away something like salt.

To protect your Heart and Brain, your Sodium to Potassium Ratio is more important than your overall salt and potassium intake.

Balance karatu.
